Rome: His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, represented His Highness President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the inauguration ceremony of Pope Leo XIV as the new head of the Catholic Church, succeeding the late Pope Francis.
The ceremony was held at St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican, Rome, and attended by numerous heads of state, world leaders, and dignitaries.
During the event, Sheikh Saud conveyed the congratulations of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Pope Leo XIV for the trust placed in him by the College of Cardinals.
He wished the new pope success in advancing the values of peace, coexistence, and intercultural and humanitarian dialogue, as well as fostering closer ties among different peoples and religions.
Sheikh Saud reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to promoting its humanitarian mission and expressed readiness to collaborate with Pope Leo XIV in strengthening global peace, tolerance, and coexistence.
He also emphasized the importance of joint efforts to address humanitarian and social challenges for the benefit of all humanity, highlighting the UAE’s ongoing commitment to these universal values.
